College of Traditional Chinese Medicine Practitioners and Acupuncturists of British Columbia

Regulation Amendment Proposal Update

August 3, 2017

In July 13, 2015, a proposal to amend the Traditional Chinese Medicine Practitioners and Acupuncturists Regulation (the “Proposal”) was submitted to the British Columbia Ministry of Health.

Since that time, the College has continued to proceed with the development of several significant requirements it must have in place in order to regulate in alignment with the Proposal. Using a risk-based approach, the College has also placed major emphasis on collaborative regulation in support of collaborative practice, along with a commitment to reducing unnecessary regulatory burden, all in the public interest.

This update to the Regulation Amendment Proposal reflects the additional development and consultation work completed to date.

Significantly, the work of the Chinese Medicine Working Group was incorporated into the update.
