Extraordinary General Meeting Results

August 30, 2017

An Extraordinary General Meeting of the College was held on August 29, 2017. There were 637 registrants participating either in-person or by proxy. Three regular resolutions and two special resolutions were voted on. Below are the results of the votes on the three regular resolutions:

Resolution #1

That it be recommended that the board consider providing the procedure of how CTCMA announces the opening/availability of a committee position and the general selection process on its website

Approved.

Resolution #2

That it be recommended that the board consider adding a general procedure explaining the complaint investigation process on the CTCMA website

Approved.

Resolution #3

That it be recommended that the board consider establishing an independent complaint department for registrants, with the purpose to help investigate/resolve any complaint a registrant may have against CTCMA registrar, board members or staff

Approved.

The Board will examine closely the recommendations contained in Resolutions #1-3 in their upcoming meetings.

Below are the results of the votes on the two special resolutions:

Special Resolution #1

That Bao Qi Ben Cao be removed from the Board in accordance with CTCMA Bylaws s. 37(10.1)(a)

Defeated. 144 in favour and 492 opposed.

Special Resolution #2

That Weijia Tan be removed from the Board in accordance with CTCMA Bylaws s. 37(10.1)(a)

Defeated. 140 in favour and 482 opposed.

With the failure of the special resolutions, the composition of the board and the activities of the Board remains unchanged. The College looks forward to continuing to work with all registrants in ensuring the professionalism and safety of TCM and acupuncture practice in British Columbia.
