College of Traditional Chinese Medicine Practitioners and Acupuncturists of British Columbia

Christopher Daniel GEROW (01864)

Date of Action: June 11, 2012

Nature of action

The Inquiry Committee has suspended the registration of the Registrant pursuant to section 35(1)(b) of the Health Professions Act (the “Act”) pending completion of an investigation regarding a complaint which has been filed against him.

Reasons

On June 8, 2012, the College received a statement which a female had provided to the RCMP alleging that the Registrant engaged in improper sexual touching and sexual behaviour with her during treatments that she received for approximately 18 months. The patient subsequently contacted the College to advise that she wished to file a complaint under the Act. The Inquiry Committee initiated an investigation under s.33(1) of the Act and reviewed the statement provided to the RCMP. The Inquiry Committee learned that the RCMP had received a complaint from another female patient who is also alleging inappropriate sexual conduct by the Registrant. Based on the foregoing, the Inquiry Committee determined that a suspension of the Registrant’s registration was necessary to protect the public pending completion of its investigation.
