Jun 17, 2019

The College of Traditional Chinese Medicine Practitioners and Acupuncturists of British Columbia (CTCMA) is pleased to announce that Crystal Chung will assume the position of Director of Compliance, effective August 1, 2019.

Ms. Chung graduated in 2013 from Bond University in Australia with a Juris Doctor of Laws, preceding that with a Bachelor of Arts, Criminology degree from Simon Fraser University. She has a solid and wide-ranging technical career background with a strong interest in business, a passion for strategy and innovation, and a deep appreciation of regulation and legislation.

Ms. Chung joins the College from ICBC where she was most recently engaged as a Business Advisor managing portfolios within the Strategic Sourcing department – Claims, Medical and Legal Services and Claims Strategy & Programs, Claims Programs, Policy and Technical Services – Quality Assurance & Claims Programs.

Over the course of her time with ICBC, Ms. Chung held several roles across three departments, broadening her experience and diversifying her portfolio. A part of that work included engagements with various stakeholders in the claims, medical, and legal arena, including provincial auto-insurers, crown entities, regulatory colleges and associations, in addition to providing strategic leadership and expertise in the development and modernization of various sourcing initiatives and programs.

Her most recent portfolio has been project-based with an emphasis on policies and procedures, strategic claims program development, business improvement and stakeholder relations. As ICBC continued to experience significant legislative and operational changes, her project portfolio expanded to encompass a wide range of quality assurance initiatives, as well as employee knowledge and asset development. She is eager to apply her skills in a new industry and is excited about the challenges awaiting here at the College—protecting the public by upholding and enforcing standards of practice.

“Crystal Chung’s education and experience with the strategic and tactical aspects of the complaints process along with her legal expertise will be a great asset,” said Jonathan Ho, Registrar and CEO. “Her broad range of professional interests, her credentials, and her deep understanding of and commitment to public protection and regulation will be invaluable to the College.”
