New Public Board Member

Weichong Joshua Tan was appointed by the Ministry of Health as a public representative to the CTCMA Board in September 2021. He brings to the Board a unique combination of legal experience as well as a strong belief in community service.
Joshua Tan holds a Bachelor of Arts with Combined Honours in Political Science and East Asian Studies from the University of Alberta, a Master of Arts in History from Simon Fraser University, and a Juris Doctor from the University of British Columbia. A trained mediator, he practices as a Vancouver lawyer working extensively with immigrant communities, often focussing on human rights and family law issues.
Mr. Tan finds the work of building relationships and intercultural conflict management very rewarding, and his community service includes volunteering at a legal clinic in Vancouver's Chinatown. Fluent in both Mandarin and Cantonese, he worked abroad as an interpreter for a Canadian medical mission, extending his volunteerism beyond the local community.
With strong research and writing skills, Mr. Tan is pleased to have the opportunity of contributing in a role that involves the protection of the public.
