PSP Implementation Test Plan ▶ ▼
We wanted to update registrants on the Practice Support Program, or ‘PSP’, as we haven’t been in touch with you on this for some months. There are some new developments, and in the next short while there will be an opportunity to test it.
But first, here’s a quick refresher on what the PSP is all about.
The College has been working on a new kind of quality assurance program designed to provide practitioners with the tools to assess their competencies against those required by the profession and to identify and take charge of their own learning needs.
The goals are to ensure that:
patients receive safe, professional, consistent care
the public has confidence in CTCMA registrants
registrants take responsibility for learning and enhancing their own practices.
When fully implemented the PSP will replace the current Continuing Competency Program requirement of completing a fixed minimum of 50 CE hours in a reporting period. During the test period, registrants will try out the PSP components within the familiar CE format, identify their learning needs and customize a learning plan.
We are about to beta test the first stage of the PSP, the Self-Reflective Assessment Tool, and we will be inviting registrants to try it out, provide feedback through a short survey, and help us shape the permanent structure of the PSP.
While the PSP itself will ultimately be mandatory, your assistance during the beta testing period will be voluntary and will count as a CE activity with 10 credits. Access to your input to the Self-Reflective Assessment Tool and the follow-up survey will be limited to PSP administration staff.
We expect to launch the testing period in the middle of August. We hope you will be willing to take it for a ‘test drive’, receive some CE credits, and help us add the final touches to the PSP program, your PSP program.

Inquiry Committee Quarterly Caseload Report and Statistics ▶ ▼
The Inquiry Committee is established under section 19(1)(t) of the Health Professions Act (the “Act”) and is comprised of CTCMA registrants and public representatives. The Inquiry Committee investigates and disposes of reports and complaints received from the public, regarding the conduct and competence of CTCMA registrants and former registrants, in accordance with the College mandate to protect the public and Part 3 of the Act.

2021 Annual General Meeting ▶ ▼
CTCMA’s 2021 AGM will be held Wednesday, September 1, 2021, 10:30am - 11:30am.
In the interest of safety this year’s AGM will once again be conducted virtually, via Zoom. It will be similar in format to last year’s AGM, including the workday, morning timeframe.
As was the case last year, participants will be able to observe the proceedings, and listen, but will not be able to interact with speakers during the meeting itself.
If you have any questions, please submit to firstname.lastname@example.org by 4:30pm, August 16 and put ‘AGM 2021 Question’ in the subject line. Answers will be prepared and provided during the AGM Q & A Session.

The AGM will be conducted in English only. Following the AGM, the College will post videos of the proceedings on the College website, in both English and Chinese.
Further materials will be provided in advance.
Registrants wishing to receive CE credit should document AGM participation in their Continuing Competency Activity Log as Category C – Structured Interactive Activities. The College will give credit for one (1) hour but will not be providing certificates.

CTCMA Election 2021— Board Nominations for 2022-2024 Now Open! ▶ ▼
Planning for CTCMA’s Board Nominations and Election for the 2022-2024 term is well underway—always an important period in the College’s annual calendar.
The Board Election will begin in late October, with voting taking place throughout the month of November. By voting in the 2021 CTCMA Board election, you will make your voice heard. As an eligible registrant, you have the right to vote, so make sure your vote is counted!
Three positions are available for the 2022-2024 term, open to registrants in the following electoral districts:
District 1 (Lower Mainland): up to two candidates
District 2 (the province of British Columbia outside of Lower Mainland): at least one candidate.
Of course, we want to be sure to have a full roster of qualified candidates. The deadline for Nominations is October 2 so you have plenty of time to think about someone you might want to nominate. Or maybe this is the year you decide to run yourself!
If you are committed to the best interests of public safety, like to work hard, and enjoy peer-to-peer discussion, you could be an effective and valuable CTCMA Board member. We are privileged to be self-regulated and that is due to the contributions of those registrants who have served on the Board as well as those public members who have been appointed.
